I know laws may differ by place, but can someone let me know what the usual laws concerning having clear corner and tallights are. is it just that you need red/amber lights in there. So, like the taillight altezzas ar fine.

That is the general rule. Your tail and stop light lights must illuminate a red light to the rear when activated. The light must give off enough illumination to warn any drivers behind you that you are about to brake.

Your altezza's have never received a ticket that I am aware. Use them with confidence!

Hope that helps :-)

in ca clears are legal in front but in back altezzas are legal but not clears.....altezzas have red reflectors

Jim is absolutely right! Altezza's have red on the lens so that when the bulb is illuminated it puts out enough red lighting to meet law reqirements. Cleat tails typically put out a redish/pink dot which is not adequate. I have found that PIAA offers tail/stop bulbs for about 22 bucks each that will solve that problem.

ya, for the most part a total clear lense on the rear is illegal, even with a red bulb. However, many places do not enforce this very well, or let it slide when they see a red reflector in the general area of the tailight, for the most part, as long as your taillights are red when you're braking/at night, theres not a problem, but IU've been told in cali it can be murder. The laws about clears are really not that specific.. most of the regulations in the laws can be gone around easily, but that still wont stop a cop from saying something. For instance.. I was reading a page once from texas about lamp laws.. and evrything it said basically was that the LIGHT had to be red.. and that there had t obe a red reflector on the rear of the vehicle.. so.. you ge tsome red reflecor tape, stick it on the back somewhere (or get a mountaineer bumper ;) ) slap the clears on, grab some LEDs, and by the definition of the law yer like 90% legal.

altezzas are suppsoedly 50 state legal as approved by the DOT

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Ill probably get both pairs as soon as i get some cash. Im doing lots of stuff right now. I was in an accident in november, not big, just the bumper and i just found time to repair it. thats next week. Im gonna get a full front mask for it, i just put in a KN, a new head unit, im getting speakers soon, looking for an exhaust, changin my firestone's..........................

.................AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Did you notice a performance difference with the K&N? just curious cuz I didnt....

matt, i have a k&n. although i didnt notice much improvement in mileage. but that is due to the way i drive. i def noticed seat of the pants growl and it was louder than stock....

well i pulled out my air silencer at the same time so the combo did give me a noticeable change.

interesting.. I've been told just by removing that you can gain like 5-10 hp alone.. pretty weird eh? it sounds hard to beleive to me, but if you have a noticable difference.. I may try it.. say, does it make the engine noise louder? cos I'd like my exhaust to do my talking, not an air rushing sound.. :P

df1 it adds to the sound of the exhaust it makes it more authoritative in the lower rpm range....when you get to bout 4k then it whines like a rcer..not the exhaust but the intake.

about clear tails

i think the law around here is, they are legal if you have a honda civic, but any other car gets pulled over and a ticket.

wow here everyone gets pulled over...the civics just get pulled over a lot more.....

clears are out of style on ricers.. they don't do that anymore.... every ricer here is either back to sotck or has altezzas.

the ricers may get pulled too.. they may just ignore the fix it tickets or something.. I dunno..

Yeah it adds a lot of sound, and it does sort of sound whining at higher rpms. i dont care though, i would say that 5-10 hp seems right. Like i said, a noticeable change did occur.
