2002 Explorer XLS 5spd
i have a 02 xls witha factory 5 speed. i was tired of the factory clutch and the performance its been giving me offroad. what is the best clutch for maximum on and offroad capabilities?

If you have a 4wd, going into 4LO should minimize clutch issues, and you should be barely touching the clutch at that point while on the trail. But if the clutch is slipping in 4LO, then maybe the clutch disc is just worn out.

As for a new clutch, from what we've seen on the forum, pretty much all clutches out there are all exactly the same - from LuK, AC-Delco, CenterForce, and so on.
 






i have looked at some clutches but didnt know which one to get.
 






You are one of the few on this forum with a manual third gen;) IZwack is right, about any replacement clutch is pretty equal. What are the problems you are having or disliking about your clutch?
 






its more of a trail truck right now, i rarely have to put it into 4WD. so its more of a strain on the bushings in the clutch. which i have heard, are known to go out pretty often in the factory clutch.
