I am wondering what the difference is between 91-97 and 98-2000 clutches. Aside from an 1/8 in diameter of the 99, is their a cheaper alternative to replacing the clutch assembly on a 99 OHV with Mazda 5 speed?

oh baby, this is a sweet project, somebody help him out!

Just an update on this old thread...
I took the pressure plate off the 1999 4.0 OHV to the salvage yard, found a 1991 4.0 minus trans and clutch and it fit perfectly on the flywheel. I did some additional checking and have found the T-O bearing is the same on 94 up. So i ordered a 1994 complete clutch kit with both bearings and even has the hydraulic clutch release tool. It appears it should work fine will try to remember to update the thread when i get the engine running.

Details 99 Exploder 4.0 engine and 5 speed trans, 85 T-Case. Had to get a different T-Case shifter and lever but looks like that part will work perfectly.
Hoping some one may find the information useful.
Still trying to find additional info on wiring between models.
