Requesting a decision by the jury as to what is usually wrong when you get these codes: Lean fuel, left and right bank? 2000 Explorer V6 Auto 4WD. 125,000 miles.

Thank you,

Bill

Intake manifold gaskets.

Thanks, I was hoping for something simpler, I put in some injector cleaner and a new air filter and reset the code. If it come back, intake manifold gaskets are next...

Thank you guys,

Bill

Is the answer the same for the pushrod engine? I've pulled this code on my son's 97 xlt 4wd. We sprayed 1/2 a can of throttle body cleaner and cleared the codes and it took a few hundred miles to come back. Is the repair the same? Thanks.

The info in the link that I posted above came from the 97 Ford Service Manual. It applies to the OHV (pushrod) or SOHC engines.

hey guys ....these codes are the same for both engines ...i just had these codes myself ..i have a 2000 ex sport ohv engine ...the fix for these codes are to get the upper plenum air intake orings changed .....the orings in question are on the upper intake not the lower .that was the case on my ohv engine anyway ..after the new orings were installed engine light out ...and has not returned.cost at my mechanic was 100 bucks plus parts ......well worth it to not see that engine light no more.

I wonder if that's the same on the push rod engnes? That would make things simpler?

the ohv is a pushrod engine ......thats the one i,m talking about ...

Oh OK, I thought you meant SOHC. I put a new air filter and PCV in and reset the the code, so well see if it comes back.
