ok, about 2 years ago when my tranny went, it happenned at exactly 90,000 miles. i mean exactly, like it was on a timer. today on my way to work, the fuel pump goes, i look at the guage, it's at exactly 110,000. coincidence or not? are these damn things timed to die? is there someone at ford that pushes a button when i hit these milestones for something to give out? ok, vent overwith. thanks for reading :)

I have gone well over 150,000 with past explorers on the stock:
tranny
engine
water pump
gear box
radiator
alternator
etc

I it just happens. Good luck with your fixes

150K is NOTHIN!! hahaha I have seen them double that with stock everything...of course it usually all hits the fan rather quickly after that.....

Preventive maint is the key. :)

I agree totally :) I am pretty good at that. Although with this many explorers it becomes a fulltime job at times :)
Sorry for changing the subject,.........

Years ago a friend had a VW 410. And twice the alternator went bad when the scheduled service light came on. They finally found a short in the wiring that caused the alternator field to come on full tilt when the light came on.

alternator fuse blown

I was lucky mine was a company car and had been complete ly repaired for sale before I got it... I've put over 25k on in the past year and all I had to repair was an O2 sensor and the rear tires....

Do like I do - waithuntil the Ex has over 200,000 on it - and buy it from a dude that says he is sick of it "nickel and dime'ng" him to death... That way almost everything is already fixed... :D
