I got the intake in the mail today and installed it in about 15 minutes. Looks good and seems to breath better. With that the X has the BFG's 265/75/16's, Cold Air Intake, Exhaust, Clear Corners, JVC indash dvd, Monitors behind the head rests and I'm ordering the monitors that go in the headrests asap.

I want to go with a programmer soon but depending on the price it may have to wait. But I'd say thats a good start so far.:D I may go with tail lights soon as well.

that explorer looks nice man... im lovin the clear corners too... thats one thing i should consider investing in

Thanks Im enjoying it. I have been thinking of some aftermarket tail lights to go with the corners. we'll see though the wife thinks I'm done spending money on the truck. lol thats funny.

haha thats funny... women just dont get it... i would consider keeping ur stock taillights and maybe going with taillight guards or something... or maybe some clear white mounty taillights... dont get alteezas though... on a beautiful offroader like that, i wouldnt put street-style lighting... wouldnt blend in and would stick out like a sore thumb

That looks good (the air filter) - how did you mount it though as on my XLT, the MAF is moulded as part of the air box lid. Can you just cut it off and then attached the Pod?

well you can try to do that but how good will it work and how good will it look? The one I bought is made so that you take the MAF off the bx and it installs in the new air intake. KKM makes the only intake for the 2005 XLT thats what I have. Search KKM on google and then order it up. I searched the net crazy looking for a CAI for my 2005 and no one makes them except KKM.

Here's my stage 1 CAI mod - K&N 9" pod filter ("Big Bertha").

And here's the homemade shroud I made for it (it's illegal here to have an unenclosed filter).

Stage 2 is also complete. This consists of 3" aluminium intake pipe and red silicon joiners - photos to come later.

Stage 2 pics as promised:

I used a sheet of 1.2mm (1/20") thick aluminium (or aluminum as you guys would say). I made a cardboard template first, then traced it on the metal, bent it up and pop riveted the couple of corners. I then sprayed it with something called "wrinkle finish" paint - it's made by VHT; but I'm not sure if they're a global brand, or Australia only. Link at http://www.speco.com.au/vht_special.html

I still have the template and could put some measurements and whatnot on it, and then post a picture up for anyone interested.

thanx for the advice.. i think a friend of mine mite have some scrap metal cuz he does alot of welding.. ill check with him and maybe fab my own

Nice looking intake, mate!

That's wierd seeing a right-hand-drive Explorer. Everything's on the wrong side of the engine compartment! Even the wipers are going the opposite way. It looks like a reversed image of ours almost.

Thanks.

You should try using a manual designed to be used for working on a LHD model, and apply that to a RHD model - it's fun. Sometimes things are in the same place as the book, sometimes they're not.
