Colorado Summer Run 2005 July 22-24

so Rick, are you going to sightsee the first weekend and all through that week and then only wheel the 22-24 or what?
If you'd like to wheel more than that while you're here, hit me up.

Larry- to avoid all that traffic on Holy Cross, I was thinking about running it on Friday rather than Saturday. Would that work for you and Jason?
I think running that on Friday, then either Wheeler or Mosquito on Saturday and sunday.
I think Holy Cross is going to have the most traffic of the three on any given day.
whatdya think?

oh, and becker, I will be camping, so let the fun begin!! :D

I just realized I can't make it that weekend, thats the weekend of Truckfest at Bandimere Speedway, and BF Goodrich is using my truck in their booth at the show. Bummer :(.

Rino... awesome man... I have to bulk up on wood and buy some-more stuff for camping this time!! ;) :D

Techieman33, Hey man it'll be awesome to have you there. I am at the novice level as well... but I am getting way hooked and learning more with each trail. We'll have a blast.

Matt, Ah yes, excuses, excuses.... :D :D

So Rick this will be a trifecta, I've seen your pumpkin at AZ, T-haven, and now in the Rockies!! Cool... that means this run has the supreme hook-up when it comes to pictures, vid clips and post-CO run posts on the board!! I'm stoked now. :D

Okay guys,

It's time to Poop or get off the pot. I haven't wheeled once this year!!!! I'm getting sick of it!!!! Let's get the ball rolling. Pick the trails and get it planned or I'm going to Chicago. Where I won't be wheeling either.

Don't make me angry by blowing this run or you'll see CHAR 2! :fire:

Unfortunately for me, my bro, & Jason, we all have to work a full day on Friday. We're gonna have to leave the Springs Friday evening after work so Saturday is the only day for us to run Holy Cross. It's no biggie though. We'll run it on Saturday & then whatever trail the rest of you all are running on Sunday, I'll try & meet up with you there provided I don't break something on my truck at Holy Cross :D

Once you (or somebody?) posts the trails & days for certain, I'll work it out from there to try & meet up with everyone on Sunday somewhere :p

Rick, will you and Char be coming through Denver? If so we'll have to hook up for dinner or something... or maybe if you guys are going to have one big dinner I can make it to that...

Im gonna try to make this run to, i just need to know a little information on where and stuff. Ryan you still gonna make a sign up sheet with all the info once its figured out?

yup, I'll start a sign up thread today.
Here's the plan:
Friday: Wheeler Lake
Saturday: Holy Cross
Sunday: Mosquito Pass

Who would be interested in a big dinner somewhere? We could do that or just have one night where we all pitch in and put together a big campground dinner with burgers and brats.

I'd like to propose that the group do a group dinner on Friday night. I will be able ot go up and spend some time with everyone and spend the night, but I have to be back on Saturday to get the truck ready for Sundays big show.

Matt- do you know of anywhere up there that would work?

I am not extremely familiar with the area. I've been up there, but I never really paid attention to those type of things.

Depends where people are staying? I know Warrlord and some others were staying in Leadville I think? I can't remember where everybody is staying... theres always some restaurants/bars in teh area that should work... I'm trying to remember whats near Wheeler Lake since I know thats where you are going on Friday... hmmm...

I'll be staying in Leadville as well. I'll either be staying in the forest somewhere or the Sugar Loafin campground.
The closest towns by Wheeler are Alma and Fairplay, but I don't recall seeing any restaraunts other than cafe's there.
Leadville I'm sure would have something.

I'm on my way to go look at cars, so if I'm back soon enough tonight, I'll right a sign up sheet, if I'm not, it'll get done by the end of the weekend for sure.

I know there was an irish pub in Leadville where we ate at several years ago, I have no idea if its still there though. Theres a few other good restaurants there, not sure who could handle a group as large as us though, on a Friday...

Should have known Matt would know where the bar is. :p

Hey Ryan, if you all want to run Holy Cross on Friday, go for it. Please don't change your plans for me. I'm sure the trail will be less traveled on a Friday.

You work out the details & I'll meet up with you all on the Sunday run if Holy Cross is gonna be on a Friday............No biggie, please do what works out for the majority here. ;)

it's all good, I don't think there is a majority LOL
I like wheeling with you and Jason anyway. It really never mattered to me, I just put it out there. :)
I like the way things are looking now.

Right on

That's cool then if it's all good with everyone else :D

For any stockers attending

Okay, I will be doing the moderate trails with my rig and I am willing to lead them. Hopefully there will be 1 or more stockers that will join me.

Saturday: McCallister Gulch and Ptarmigan Pass
Sunday: Mosquito Pass, Mt. Bross and/or Mt Lincoln (if time), return via easy Weston Pass

I had a blast on McCallister and Ptarmigan passes a few years ago, there is plenty of challenging yet fun sections and several stream crossings which I love to do.

If someone does Red Cone, we could do Webster pass as long as your not afraid of shelf roads, the book says they are narrow  but I was doing 10-15 mph last time I did it.

For you NM people - Joey and Southern CO people - any interest in hitting up the trails in the sand dunes area such as Medano pass on the way home (Monday)
