Just bin reading some entries and you guys know your stuff.
Heres one for you got the standard ford 7000 rds head unit with sony cdx-505rf cd changer. which has it's own control system and only hooks via a radio chanel.this sucks. is ther any way to convert unit to use the ford head? I'm fairly good with soldering iron if nes (to remove rf unit etc) It would be so much better to use head controls. I realise that head is for 6 disc and changer is 10 but could sacrifice 4 cd's.
I look forward to comments including scrap units but the sound quality isn't to bad for what I listen to.
Thanks for all help

i would just replace the rf modulated cd changer with a stock hu controlled cd changer... my moms 96 has a hu that controls the cd changer that is stock from ford....

try to get the factory one... less headche

OEM

You are quite right that would be the simplest if funds permit but what a waste of good kit.
The point I am trying to find out is wether it is possible to convert rf output to header output by taking out from higher up the chain so to speak.
Its just a thought might be useful to others who are not in the position to just throw kit away.
Thanks though

Unfortuanatly not. The protocol langugae from your factory headunit is not compatible withe the sony. I would check either Soundgate.com or Stinger.com and see if they have a adaptor.

Just to round off
Soundgate say they have an interface that would work.
However there would apear to be nobody that will sell one in the UK or export one to the UK. So whilst it can be done technically it can't be done practically.
This is typical.
Thanks for the help though.
Lets hope that othe probs that occur with the x are not so difficult to overcome....

I love my x so much better than jeep as it has more than Just Enough Essential Parts!!!
