Currently I am running a 31" super swamper with 3.73 gears on my 1995 X. Since I have the '95, I have the older OHV engine with the 160 horsepower. I have noticed a signifigant decrease in gas mileage from my old set of 30" tires. My question is, will I see any advantages in going with a 4.10 gear in terms of gas milage? Since the stock tires were 235/75/15's with a 3.73 gear ratio, the current actual gear ratio is about a 3.55 with the 31" tires (according to www.4lo.com). Would the 4.10 gears with the 31" tires equal the power and mileage of the 3.73 gears with the old 235/75/15's?? Sorry if this sounds confusing.
