I have been unable to find any definitive answers about how this system works. What I've seen, seems to be saying that in 4wd/4wd low the air suspension is supposed to lift up the vehicle, and stiffen.

On my 2000 XLT, I have heard the compressor run after being parked. However, on tests of putting it into 4wd/4wd low, there is no change in suspension, either with the firmness or ride height, nor do I hear the compressor. I have checked the rear on/off switch, and it is in fact, on. I have also checked through all of the fuses, and all seem to be fine.

Any ideas what to look at? Am I wrong about how this system works in some way?

Thanks-

The 4WD only affected the 95-98 four ARC shock systems, and only the USA version I gather. You have the 99-01 rear leveling ARC(two ARC shocks only), and the OEM US versions had electrical shock valving in them. All replacement shocks come with no electrical valving.

I have basically what you have, in my 99 Limited. The ARC should function any time you change the rear load, when it checks the ride height. That usually happens each time the doors are shut and the ignition turned on. Regards,

Alright, thanks for the reply. I have heard it adjust after filling with gas, ect, so I know it's working.

Good to know that it's working properly-
