2002 Eddie Baurer
First of all I have a 2002 Explorer Eddie Baurer(I'm the one and only owner :) )
My factory 6 CD Changer has been having problems ejecting cds for a while now(used to just bang on the dash and it would pop out, then I was able to push a piece of cardboard in to the stuck cd and it would slide out but now it's totally stuck) so I figure I might as well take it out and manually remove the CDs, My question is two part:
1: what is the correct procedure to remove the 6 CD Changer/radio?
2: Is there a way to connect my iPod directly to my 6 CD Changer/Radio?

Thanks all in advance, wish I found this site earlier!!!!

To remove the radio:

1. Remove trim piece surrounding radio, climate control & vents. (this piece includes the buttons for 4x4 and/or DIC). It is just held on by spring clips, but be careful, a few stayed in the holes on me and then fell.

Once the trim piece is removed unplug the 4x4 and DIC buttons.

2. There should be two screws below the radio (and maybe two above?!?).

Once you remove those the radio should slide out and you can unplug the harnesses from the rear.

As for the iPod connectivity I never found a good hardwired interface and ended up buying a Harmon Kardon Drive + Play kit and the wired FM transmitter for it.

My friend rewired CD #6 to his iPod in his mustang, idk how he did it tho
