Is it possible to (somewhat easily) mount 2nd gen fenders and a hood to my 1st gen Explorer? I know McNeil makes the kit to do it, since it's sitting in my backyard right now from the old Explorer, but I'm afraid I'll beat up fiberglass too much with the way I go four wheeling and I think owning what looks like a 2nd gen with 4WD TTB would be really cool. I'm sure I could use the fiberglass hood, but would I be able to mount the fenders? And I also know that I would have to fabricate mounts for the header panel and lights/turn signals.

One of the mods on here has a total 2nd gen front end on his 1st gen, looks like it was meant to be like that, hopefully he'll post in here, I cant remember who off the top of my head. Its like a forrest green color, 91

lots of work...

Well I talked to Rick, whom I found out has done the same thing. He replaced his McNeil fiberglass conversion fenders with non modified 2nd gen metal fenders. He says that there are some gaps at the bottom of the front doors and the front of the hood, since the radiator support has more of a slant in 2nd gen, but otherwise, they bolt right up. Considering the fact that in the few pictures that I've seen of his rig, I can't tell with the new setup, I don't think I'd mind that.
