coolant temp sensor causing problems

will a coolant temp sensor cause an engine to miss, surge, and idle roughly? if not what might be the culprit? this is really beginning to bug me. i thought it was fixed with the plug wires but this new problem has developed somehow.

The coolant sensor shouldn't affect the engine's running, the most noticable problem related to a bad temp sensor is poor gas mileage. Have you cleaned the mass air sensor?

the gas mileage has gotten alot worse, usually i get 300+ miles to the tank but i only got 228 last time. someone said on another thread that if it doesnt work it will run the engine rich and cause my idle problem. im going to try it and ill get back to you about how it worked out.
