My 92' never goes past the "N" even with the AC blowing, at a standstill

:D

Well, unfortunately, I'm not as dumb as I thought I was. My problem is still there, it just takes longer to manifest itself now, and it happens lower on the gage. Now I stay around 0 for quite awhile, but like when I was in traffic today in the full sun and about 80+ outside it rose to A. Better then L but still too high I think. It didn't jump around as much as before, Got to O and stayed there, then rose to A and stayed there. If finally fell when I had a long stretch without stopping, then it fell to M. Used to go from O to L all the time. So I'm making progress....but still more to go. I'll start replacing stuff this weekend and see what works.

When I first got mine it was swinging from O to A almost to the L. I back- flushed the system really good and replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap. Now the needle stays pretty steady between the O and R and will creep up to the low side of M climbing a steep grade with the A/C blasting.

Would you say it's in a safe range now?

What is this 'bumper to bumper' traffic you speak of? I've never experienced it...

LOL

Thats where theres so many cars, and theres like lets say an accident on the highway, or construction, so like 2, 3 or 4 lanes all narrow down to one lane, so the traffic is moving like <1 mph so its like your front bumper is right up to the guys rear bumper in front of you (not literally that close, its just a simile)

get it?
LOL

Well, the problem is worse now. Today it stayed at O for quite awhile then started rising. It was hot today and i was in traffic but it rose all the way past L. Not overflowing or causing issues yet, but I just can't trust this truck like this. Didn't have a chance to do anymore work on it yet except added some fluid to the overflow (was waiting to see where it would end up at). This is really starting to worry me, and I've got to go pick up my kid tomorrow and that's going to be a 100+ mile trip. We'll see if she makes it.

Well, it appears a new thermostat has solved my issue, not 100% yet but I did test it out tonight, and it seemed to be behaving more like others have reported. It was cool out tonight so the real test will be at highway speeds in the sun tomorrow.

I ran the hell out of mine today all the way home, and never got it past M even with A/C.

I'd say a little variation is OK...mines hada new Tstat and CTS for the past year.
