There are a bunch of seams in that area I had to cut through so what started out as a relatively small cut got bigger and bigger and bigger.

Plus those tubs I may or may not use are 40" drag tubs so I needed more space to be able to make them work.

Another dumb question for you Cory:
Does the C5 bolt up to the 4.0?
 






I'll answer for him Arsoul..It will kinda sorta...It has to be from a 2.8 donor vehicle and it will require the flexplate and torque convertor from the same vehicle but it is a shroter tranny so count on driveline mods...But ask me or Cory again in a couple of weeks and one of us should be done by then

I was just about to purchase a dana44 for my solid swap, when my tranny went out on me. So now I'm looking for options. I don't want to rebuild the A4ld, but my 4.0 is still strong. I was thinking C5, but I'd like to have more than 3 gears. At the moment, I'm thinking of buying an old F100, and swapping the 302, tranny, tcase, and both axles. So many decsions!
 






Well I am back from NY visiting my fiance's family for the holidays and the project has resumed.

Found all the bearings to rebuild the axles. GOt the front brakes worked out, but it looks like I am going to convert to discs in the rear to make things easier.

Still need a C5 TQ converter however.

Also got the stand for the bender build so I can start on the cage and front end.

Will keep posting pics as progress is made.

I got prices but didn't bother to send them to you because I figured for another $100 or so you can get the disc setup.....But if you do want the prices I have them now....I just figured out that the caliper brkts I got for the 9" are for 5 on 5 bolt pattern NOT 5 on 5.5 like I thought :confused: :(:(

As for the spindles, I think I found some on eBay. Just need to know if ones from a Mid 80s F350 are the same. I am assuming they are, but I don't want to buy them and find out otherwise.

Also, can you get ahold of a C5 TQ converter thru work?
