2000 Limited
Last week i sold my 2000 XLS. A friend like the way I fixed it up so I sold it to him. I always wanted to upgrade to a more equiped versions so I jump at it. My XLS with it's 4.0 OHV just didn't have the power I was looking for but at the time it was in my price range. Sad to see it go, had two fun years with her.

Well now I own a 2000 Limited with a 5.0 V8. It had under 20,000 and was in mint condiction. Only had one owner and they wanted a towncar. Not a scratch on it. My dream has come true. Now I want to make some changes and mods to her so she'll sound more like a heavy V8 and have a little more pep in it. I wanted the 5.0 because of the upgrades that are out for the engine style.

I've already modified the fog lights so they will come on in park, low and high beams. I'm also looking at putting in a KKM air filter kit. I'm going with the KKM because of the price difference of the K&N. I also want to upgrade the exhaust system. This is were I'm lost because I've read so much in the forum in the last 3 days about it. What is a good affordable setup to get? Do I have to order it online and have a local shop install it? Can it be bought locally. Any inputs on this and pricing would deeply appreicated.

I would also like to get the superchip and the EE suspension setups but i'll have to save my pennies for awhile.

Any other suggestions would be helpful. (Within a reasonable price :)

If it were me I would take it to a local exhaust shop and have them make a complete custom cat back setup. What muffler you run is up to you, but I happen to love the sound of the 40 series Flowmaster. If you want the look of duals I'd suggest running 2.25" tail pipes, but if you are wanting a good sound and want to save a couple dollars you could run a single 3" and it will flow as good as the dual 2.25" setup.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it tomorrow when I stop by the shop.

I agree with MRBOYLE, get a shop to weld you one if a good shop is available. I am not a fan of 40 series Flowies. To me, they are way too loud. On the highway they are god-awfull. Conversation in the back seat is possible if you talk real loud, but it is annoying. The 50 series are not as loud. Like MRBOYLE said, try to listen to a couple different sytems and ride in one to see for yourself.

The EE suspension is wonderful; do it when you can,

I too agree with a local shop making a custom cat back for you.

Thw KKM is a great mod.

Good luck.....

Thanks for the advice mrboyle. I went ahead and got the Flowmaster 40 with the single 3" out. It sounds really nice. The nose was not as bad as I thought it would be. I had my wife in the back seat and she didn't notice any problems with talking up front. It really has a nice sound to it at ideal and when I give it some gas, it has a nice rumble sound. These guys custum bent all the pipes and everything was wielded. They even put the pipe off to the side aft of the right rear tire. I'm very pleased with there work and it only cost me $200.

Just curious as to what kind of deal you got on the v8?
