Stripped out tonight, they've been going for a while. Removed the glass for the time being. Is there anywhere online that sells the hinges? Are they the same part supplied for the explorer kit (recall kit, I believe: 2L2Z-78420A68-AA)

Anyone know? Thanks in advance. Here's hoping it doesn't rain in the next couple of says....

Been there, and let me tell you it is no fun holding that glass while fumbling for a tool to get the shock support loose.

For a temp fix to get you by until you get new hinges, you can jb weld the stud back into the hinge and let it cure overnight.

You will need to remove the glass support shocks as they give too much tension for the jb weld fix.

I think I actually got a replacement set from another member here.

your gonna have to drill & tap taking it up a size and just get 4 new bolts. the hinges are not threaded. the holes the bolts go in on the truck are, thus drilling & tapping.

edit....... nevermind, i thought you were talking about the main hinges that hold the liftgate on.....

sorry.

Just got some used ones on Ebay for 20$ shipped... looks like the same part (98 Explorer).

We'll see, I guess.
