My 2002 explorer xlt is having an alarm problem it has started last year in the

winter. It only happens when it is getting cold at night. The door ajar light

stays on and at night when i lock the car the alarm starts going off. The

alarm goes off even if i don't have it armed. How do you fix this problem? I

had the door lock sensors replaced last year and they are expensive! Plus the

neighbors are starting to get irritated. All of the problems started happening

After It was in a car accident last year which was over 8,000 dollars worth of damage.

Thanks

I suspect you have a battery drain issue.. Grab a multi-meter and with the EX off. disconnect the postive cable. Set your multi-meter to amps. Place one lead on the battery and the other to the cable. The reading should be zero. If it isn't start pulling fuses until it reads zero. That will allow you to track down the drawing circuit.

It could also be a hood latch, one the 95-01 they were known to have issues, not sure about your model. If last resort, you can always pull the relay for the horn at night thus, only the lights will flash and no horn sounds.

I'd also suggest getting your battery tested/replaced.. You have 02 so the battery is already 4 years old, thats typically around the time frame a battery starts to die.

The battery seems fine. What else could be the problem? I heard that it is illegal to remove your horn fuses.
