ok heres the story, i got a letter about the cruise control deactivation switch recall or whatever they call it. i brought it to the dealership about 3 months ago to get it fixed and a few weeks ago my abs light came on, it started to get a little hard to get out of park, and my cruise control stopped working. then today i read an article about how if you have those issues it means you could have a problem with that recall so i called the dealership that fixed it and they said theyll look at it but if it doesnt have anything to do with the recall its going to cost me 90 bucks for diagnostics. first of all i think thats ridiculous, but on top of that the guy i talked to was being a total jerk. he interupted me about 20 times and was talking to me like im an idiot. he told me that its because its a 10 year old vehicle (99 xlt v8) with 100k miles on it. my argument is what are the odds that all of those problems happen at the same time a few months after they "fixed" the issue. has this happened to anyone else? tell me what you guys think because i dont know what to do.

I would get the work order/complaint number and contct customer service. Also- each time you take it in, get a new work order number. A lot of these complaints are piggybacked by the dealers so it only shows up as one problem... ;)

I would also check out a different dealer, and tell them that "xxxxxx dealership was jerking me around. That's not how things are supposed to be done, and I'm certainly not going to be purchasing any more vehicles from them if that's how they treat their customers."

The new dealer, if worth their weight in salt, will handle you like a potential customer and work with you to figure it out. It's sad that you have to do that, becasue everyone should be treated like that, every time.

I skipped that little recall, I had gotten the letter in the mail when I had my old 95, and never did get around to it. Im curious as to if ill get another letter for my new 95. I had my old one for 4+ months before I got it so we'll see.

My cruise control is ridiculous though, when I set it, its SO touchy, I hit a little patch of wind, and the truck jerks forward (as the CC jerks the pedal to speed back up) then back down, and jerking again, its ridiculous

well i didnt buy my truck there, i just think they should take care of it because they worked on it the first time. but i think i still have the reciept and everything so ill try to find that.

yea i didnt get the letter for like 8 months. but my cruise control was perfect so i want it back haha

I'm not saying that you had to buy the truck there, I would tell the second place that the first place won't get your next new car business. The second place might see a chance to win an unhappy customer with some extra effort on their part- it's sad that you have to entice people to just do their jobs, but that's America now, it seems. :(
