Yesterday, I'm sitting in my office and I hear schreeching tires and then crunch! I look out my window and see this guy in an X got cut off and head on'ed a tree at like 60 MPH. I run down there and check. Driver is OK, but they transported him due to neck pain, his girlfriend is OK no major injuries.
So I qucik grab the company camera....ever wonder what your airbags look like deployed?

Damn that sucks. I have airbags in my leather seats. I have never seen any of those deployed and i hope that i never get an impact that makes mine deploy. I cant really see an easy way out for my air bags so i think if those ever deployed it would rip my seat apart and i would need to replace the seats. Sounds like an expensive fix if i had to replace all 4 air bags in my truck and two seats Plus whatever body damage is done. I guess in a few years it wouldnt take much to total my explorer.

That also looks exactly like my westin brush guard. Guess it cant handle a tree at 60mph.

holy crap. hard to believe they didnt get hurt too bad; i guess the airbags did their job.

The console looks like it was open. I wonder if he was looking for something and took his eyes off of the road?

And who said Explorers aren't safe? I'd like to see what a Honda CR-V or one of those other "cute utes" would look like if it met the same fate!

unfortunately I've seen my air bags deploy

@ 10k on the odo, I wrecked the x. so bad that I have a new frame. air bags scare the **** out of you when they deploy. but they allow you, in most cases to open the door and walk out:)

I hit a pole at about 25 mph when the truck was 1.5 years old. I was fine except for a few explosive burns on my wrists. Even my glasses were still on straight. $6500 later Splat was back on the road

I feel sorry for the tree it hit. It even destroyed the push bar.

Wow that looks pretty serious. I'm glad that both of them got out ok. Maybe the passenger was looking for something in the console when it happened or they got something out of there after the accident and just left it open. I think if it was open when they hit the tree the lid would have slammed shut.

That actually makes me feel pretty safe seeing how the cabin was not affected by the impact...

I echo Mr Boyle, who says Explorers arent safe?

I saw an accident around here not too long ago involving a CRV and a Mercedes ML55. Both had a near head on collision, and veered off, the CRV went through a property fence and into a tree much like that Explorer did. The woman in the CRV was seriously injured. The ML55 hit a brick driveway gate post, and actually wound up on top of it, she was also injured. Niether of these impacts were as stong as the one that Explorer faced...

Where's the problem? I think Zaino and a lil elbow grease will clean that up nicely.

It looks like the console right below the AC controls is gone (either cubby hole or computer). Right?
