Alrighty people, stop buying your audio equipment from Crutchfield. Cf seems like a great place to buy stuff, they have in-depth reviews, customer reviews, pictures, and assistance. But they overprice the equipment they sell by way too much. The only reason people should use Cf is to do research on the kind of audio equipment they are willing/trying to buy. They have a very handy vehicle specific fit guide, that lets you see only the items that specifically fit your car without any modifications. I must say myself, Cf helped me to find out which Rockford Fosgate equipment that I got (I went with 2 12" T1 subs with a T8002 sub and 4 P1 component speakers).

But the reason why I am posting is because they have proce comparisons from multiple online stores, and Cf is usually at the top of the list as the most priciest, and some stores sell them for up to 50% off. One such store is www.DicountJungle.net which ships in the next business day from your order but is unfortunately, not free. Although Cf has free shipping, the prices reductions make up for it. I do not personally use either of these two sites because i have a private source where I get my equipment from, but I wish to spread the word about cheap equipment. Happy birthday.

I just recently bought a head unit from crutchfield, so I feel a little differently.
$280 unit, on sale for $180, plus another $20 off with a coupon code that was easily found by doing a google search, I got free harnesses, free dash adapter kit, and free shipping. I ordered it at 2pm on a wednesday, and got it at 5pm on thursday.

For me, that seems like a good deal.

They are overpriced yes, but you just have to buy smart. The cardomain store is high as well. Cardomain does offer a pricematch plus though, which if you are smart, you can use to your benefit.

Yes but most of the discount places are not factory authorized dealers either. Which mean bye bye warranty!!! Crutchfield is factory authorized on EVERY product they sell... And as Jim said, free harness, free dash kit, free wiring adaptors for your speakers and free tech support for life... That all comes with the higher (usually retail) price of their products... If you watch for things to go on sale they usually will over at Crutchfield too... You just have to watch for the sales...

crutchfield isn't that bad. A friend of mine has a Jeep Grand Cherokee that he wanted to add some door speakers and an amp to, and they helped him pick out exactly what he needed. He also got door brackets so the new speakers will bolt right up. Free harnesses, and kick-A$$ shipping...especially for use since we are in Mechanicsville and Charolettesville (their home) is 80 miles away. Good deals I think. You pay for what you get.

Crutchfield is the best even though I didn't buy my HU or speakers from them. Their support service is amazing and like everyone else said, the free harnesses, dash kit, install instructions all make up the price. Everything from Crutchfield is worth the price.

I got my head unit & 4 speakers plus all the adapters, instructions, & harness's for $289.
They have some good deales if you catch them. Like my speakers were buy 1 get another set 1/2 price. Some of their stuff is overpriced though. Doesn't have to be car audio either. Their TV's are high for example.

I'm nothing short of thrilled with my experience with them. I got my stuff for what it was gonna cost off ebay when shipping was calculated, and I get all the warranties and service I could shake 4 sticks at. They sent me a big booklet of how to do everything for my truck, and shortly after I bought my stuff, their prices dropped on them. And I got that money back. And if I decide that I don't like it, I can send it all back for free. The free harnesses is nice too. If you're gonna take your stuff somewhere and have them install it, then yes, a place that sells stuff at slashed prices with no warranty, harnesses, instructions, or service would be a better deal, as that shop you get it done at would deal with all that. But if you're gonna go out in your driveway and do it all yourself, they're most definately worth the extra money over eBay if you don't catch their deals.

You decided that for your 2nd post spamming a VERY reputable company that has made its foundation on customer service and support would be good way to prove something?

Crutchfield does extensive research on every new vehicle out there. They create detailed and informative Master Sheets that explain with pictures and itemized lists how to do the work yourself. They provide a free fitment guide to find out what works for your vehicle. They give you free wiring harnesses, free dash kits, etc (which for an Explorer is expensive b/c you need the dash kit and the 18' amp bypass kit which the 2 of them cost $30)

What else can you expect from a company? They do EVERYTHING they can to provide you with the best products and the best service before and after the sale. Lets see some online shop selling crap out of their basement do that.

So what about all of these "online retailers" that you speak of. What happens if your junk you buy there craps out or doesn't work? You think they're going to stand by any of that? I don't know about you, but I don't gamble with my money. I've been screwed once buying electronics online, I don't need it to happen again.

And despite all that Crutchfield provides, you admit to taking advantage of their services but never buying their stuff. Everything they provide costs money, which you ultilize, yet you still feel the need to scrutinize them? Seriously man, get a life.

i agree...crutchfield is high so i went to the lowest priced place i could find to buy my head unit. at the time the h/u retailed for $450 i think and i picked it up for $250 shipped. my dad meanwhile bought a $250 head unit from crutchfield for $250. his came quicker and although it didnt come with dash or wiring stuff (it was going in a '77 corvette so their stuff said it wouldnt fit) their service was great. mine however...i thought i had a crapped out head unit (i didnt know about the amp bypass) and started talking to the people i got it from. they gave me nothing but crap telling me i had to talk to pioneer (who didnt do anything for me either) and pretty much just got the run around from everyone. luckily for me after the amp bypass it worked like it should but if there was indeed a problem i would have been screwed.

I have to agree that Crutchfield is one of the best stores i have dealt with. There service and support is great, and when you do all your own work this can be the difference between having a bumpin' system and a bunch of wires on your floor. Now about their prices. They are exactly the amount retail is. I live in a smallish town with two audio shops, both are slightly overpriced. So, i decided to look elsewhere. Crutchfield came into view the first day i looked on the internet. After asking around a bit, i decided this was the way to go. I am glad i did. I bought my HU and my speakers from Crutchfield. I waited until there was a sale and then jumped. I bought a Sony M800 HU. When these were still being sold they would go for $330-$345 depending on where you got it. I got this from crutchfield for $180. That is a savings of $150 at least. Not to mention the fact that i bought my speakers at the same time and got the build your own system discount which is another 10% off right there. I got 2 sets of speakers with the buy 1 get the second pair 1/2 off. Bam! Another $50 saved. Now include all the adapters and bypasses and harnesses, that is another $40 saved easily. Include free spipping, and thats about another $15 saved. Now i got everything i needed for my stereo for $290. This, if i had bought everything from a "cheaper" online store would have cost me nearly $600, if not more. Now, i suggest before you go and bash some company, you have a valid and decent reason to do so. Maybe, a bad experiance? Out of everyone i know who has used Crutchfiel, there is no one, i repeat, no one who has had an ounce of trouble with them. Can I say that for ANY other company? NO!

Some people like hassle free service, quick shipping and most importantly RELIABILITY. I bought an XM MYFI from Crutchfield last X-mas. They were backordered for forever everywhere else. Crutchfield designated an employee who worked specifically with me and called and updated me every step of the process. He got it to me the day before x-mas (no thanks to UPS giving me BS about it not getting here on time due to weather in the eastern US, when it showed it was already in the West). Some people will pay for better service. I am one of those people

Heh. In the past month I've spent over $6000 at Crutchfield. Why? I knew I'd have no problems with anything I ordered. Everything arrived quickly and safely. Their online ratings are stellar (and that's with thousands of reviews). Most other "discount" sites have only a handful of reviews and most are mediocre ones at best.

I have no problems with ordering from Crutchfield, and will continue to do so.

He is indeed a Weimaraner. His name is Pi. He's a big one too. They told us that males get to be about 75-85 pounds. Our little guy got to be 128 pounds. He once picked up a basketball in his mouth! He's the greatest dog.
