Will there be a big difference if I replace the stock tubing? I have decided to go with the flowmaster 70 series and am wondering if I should have a custom pipe after the cat installed or just keep the stock pipe and have a tip welded on? Thanks guys

I just had a custom cat-back and Flowmaster Super 40 installed. The cat-back pipe installed was 2.5" and the only reason I did it was because the stock pipe was useless due to the previous crappy installations.

Performance gains: It feels a little lighter on accelaration but its probably just wishful thinking.

Sound: A bit lower sound than the Original 40 series flowmaster on the outside. On the inside you can barely here it with windows up and no radio. With low radio its gone. Windows down sounds great. Here's a sound clip: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189473

By the way, its an 02 4.6 V8.

I imagine it does more for the sound that for performance but thats just my thoughts. Hopefully someone with real knowledge will chime in.

By all means go with the cat back piping.

Good luck ....

i welded a flowmaster delta 40 with stock piping and cut the tip where it goes straight back and welded a magnaflow 3'' tip diagonally... i dont think a catback with bigger piping is that big of a deal but im sure it helps some... good luck and heres a sound clip if ur interested...
