blowing white smoke, oil looks foamy or like chocolate milk, oil in antifreeze, antifreeze level dropping, truck running very rough. as for time, that would also depend on what motor it is.

Having a mechanic replace a head gasket is $$$ no matter how you slice it. $1000 at least.
