The headgaskets are side-specific however,

Thanks for the info can't wait to put it back together. One thing that always throws me of is left is drivers side it makes sense but not when your looking at it while working on it. Anyways my gaskets get here next week rockauto has some sweet deals

You will see the writting on the head gasket to tell you how to install it (I think is says 'This side up, Front' on them, or something like that. Really straight forward.

Were all looking forward to hearing how you make out.

Got my head gasket kit today do I got my heads, intake, rockers, valve covers and done of the mess of wires put in today so now I am waiting on more parts the kit only came with 6 injector o-rings so I need to get 6 more also still waiting on the water pump and radiator I have never taken a fan clutch off a water pump that I needed a tool for any tips thanks

search 'fan clutch removal'

here's a quote that might help:
I too rented/borrorwed the fan clutch tool from Autozone for our '92.

The big wrench that hold the pump from turning (the one that kinda grabs 2 bolts) was spread out. I just took out my trusty coarse adjustment tool (e.g. my 2.5 lbs sledge) and whacked the wrench until it fit tight on those 2 bolts that it grabs.

I was then able to get the fan clutch off...

BUT, I have since found a much better way to do it (I'm even going to add the tool to my toolbox)... Basically, it is just the wrench part that goes on the shaft behind the clutch... that is kind bent at a 45 degree angle... This is so I can put the end into an air hammer (i've also done it with my coarse adjustment tool). When you hit the trigger (or hit it with the sledge) it pops right off... I couldnt' belive how easy it was to do...

I have even used the rental too from autozone this way (I didn't have the "neat" tool yet).. I just put the one piece behind the water pump, and set it at an angle that I could put a big combo wrench on the end (open end just sat on the autozone part) and whacked it.. It took a couple wacks, but it came right off...

anyone know if its right or left to loosen the fan clutch nut

I'm pretty sure its not a reverse nut

So this fan clutch won't budge would it be safe to heat it or no

they do break free, but...skinned knuckle city. Heating will probably ruin the plastic fan

I am replacing the fan anyways due to all those cracks in between the fan blades
