I am so frustrated with trying to figure out what the hell is wrong my EB 02 explorer and it's tranny issues... I wonder everyday, if while I am driving, if it's just going to fall right out.

I am so tired of the shuttering, the clunking, the hard shifts.. :( every auto shop tells me something different and I dont have thousands of $'s to just to keep taking it to places to be looked at .. grrrr

i feel your pain bro. it almost seems like no matter what we do (overhaul, replace, maintain) to the tranny it will still let you know it is there. the way the truck feels when the tranny was good misguides the owner that these trucks were meant to last > 200K miles. although the engine might with proper maintenance, i can't say the same about the tranny or the rear diff.

Some shops use cheap fluid which isn't the proper type for that transmission, and could cause similar symptoms which you have just described. Either replace the fluid with Mercon V or use the Lubegard additive to convert the existing fluid. The additive has the necessary friction modifiers which cheap fluids don't have. Mercon V is semi-synthetic unlike the cheap fluids.
