Dana 35 3rd member and gears

Hey guys,
A minor question regarding gears in the Dana 35 from a '93 TTB axle...

If stock is 3.27, can you upgrade to 4.56's with the same 3rd member? I will be replacing everything - including the carrier. Just want to be sure cuz I have 2 of them (3rd members)

Hi Jon

When I bought my gears from my local driveline shop, they didn't mention anything about having to change 3rd members. They know they'll be the one's installing them too and quoted me a Labor estimate. I also looked up the gears I bought from the Mfr on their web site (and a few oline 4X4 outlets) and they also make NO mention of needing to alter the 3rd member.

This application is for a 94 Explorer, tho.

If your replacing the carrier there will be no problems. The question arose about the carriers and if there was a break for the carrier itself, the carriers all fit into the same third member.
