Not the tire mount, yes hub will work fine for that, i'm talkng about the portion on outside ends of bumpers the pivot.

Yea, me too man. It's fairly cheap, you'd just need to cut up a hub and thats all really, or weld some bearing races in to the swing out arm. I think being able to grease the bearings completely like the spindle lube setup lets you grease everything, completely.

i remember seeing this on here when i first joined up. these are very strong spindles. there was a pic floating of a guy sitting on a spare swung out and weighed 250 and it held up just fine.

my only concern is adding that much weight for a heavy duty spindle on my bumper. what else would need to be done to reinforce the bumper?

I think that for something like this it would be cots effective to just put a piece of tube over a piece of round stock add some grease zerks and keep it from sliding off somehow and your done

No way man, you need a proper hinge system. The stress a 35 inch tire puts on that hinge is quite a bit.. Many designs have failed because of the weight..

a 2 inch round solid piece of metal welded through the bumper(welded on bottom and top)with a 2 inch inside diameter 1/4 inch wall piece of tubing
would be plenty strong. my buddy has the same design on his jeep bumper and he can stand on the end of the swing out. if you do it right and use the right thickness of steel, it is bullet proof

my dad's all into building and construction and stuff. i ran across this drawing and fell in love... i'm doing something similar with mine, but making some changes to it. pretty sweet though. i found the drawing and showed my dad, and then i couldn't find it again. i'm SO HAPPY i found it so i know who to give basic design credit to. :)

are these swingout tire carriers still in production? I'd love one for my '99. Quick reply back please.

agreed. if you are still making them i would be very interested in them
