I am about to change all the fluids in the front, rear and tranny. The manual says to add a friction modifier to the traction lok rear. How do I determine if I have this? I imagine it is on the data plate in a coded number/letter. Also, what would be the code for the optional trailer towing pkg? Thanks

Welcome to the site!

Have you tried the search feature?
This is discussed quite often around here :)

You can add the friction modifier anyways, I know many places who use it regardless if it is a limited slip rear end or not. It reduces foaming in the gear lube.

Also some lubricants do not require it no matter what type of traction device the differential may have (Mobil one gear lube for example)

Your door sticker, Vin number, and Axle tag can tell you ALOT obout your vehicle.

You can search for all of those.

(typically a limited slip rear end will be something like this on the rear axle tag or door sticker: 3L73. The 3.73 ration, L= limited slip)

Data Plate Info

Thanks for the info......new to the site and not used to the search feature, but I stumbled around and found out that D4 means 3.73 LS and that most all came with the trailer pak.

Mine is the 5 sp manual version. Single cherry bomb on exhaust and K/N intake. Lots of fun to drive. The K/N filter leaves a lot of area open to the engine compartment. I have been thinking of covering the top of the filter box to get most of the air from outside (cooler) Has anybody tried this?

searchity :)

Yes.
Adding an open element to your intake that only sucks up hot underhood air is counterproductive.
You need to feed the filter cold outside air and shield it from the hot underhood air and also from the fan turbulence.
