Daughter has a 99 4 wheel drive 4.0 SOHC explorer with all forward gears out. Could it be the solenoid? Seems funny that all 3 went out quietly. Anyone else have this? I have 3 other fords and love 'em!! My 01 F 250 just shot the plug out of the head but wouldn't trade for nothing.

Check the fluid first. Last year I bought a Ford Ranger for scrape price, with a trans that had stopped working in forward. I towed it home, put trans fluid in it, and drove it with no problems for a year before I sold it.
