So i was sittin in class and i got bored, so i started day dreaming and wrote this up as a dream machine off roading rig. Let me know what you guys think of the idea:
Custom built frame no longer than 130". Full roll frame, with bars all over to protect everything. Either a GM Goodwrench 454, or a Diesel engine. NV4500 Transmission with ~6:1 first gear ratio. Atlas II Transfer Case. Denny's Heavy duty driveshafts all around. Currie built Dana 60 35 spline axles with ~6:1 ratio. 17" Chrome 5-spoke beadlock wheels. 40 inch tires (not sure which yet, something like Interco Tires' TSL/Boggers.) Warn bumper with 12,000 pound winch. Mastercraft bucket seats for 4 with 5-point harnesses with optional fifth strap (got to protect the family jewels.) The rear seats will be brought in about 3 inches from each side. Grant GT steering wheel. Custom dash with long handled toggle switches, and a pushbutton type start button. It will still
have a key master switch. Some form of stereo system, nothing radical just 4 speakers with good sound. A GPS laptop system to keep track of where we are. There will be a Premier Power Welder under the hood along with an air compressor. There will also be an auxiliary generator running off the engine. There will be 4 trail lights mounted above the windshield, along with two on the brush guard above the winch, and one spot light (like the cops use) on each side of the windshield. I will have exhaust stacks coming up along the windshield frame on the side of the car that go just a bit above the roof along
with the snorkels. I will have two semi-bright white backup lights so I can see when I am backing up, along with normal tail lights. There will be two side marker lights on each side. The rig will also have two normal headlights along with two normal turn signals both front and rear. There will be two bucket type things on each side of the rear with enough room in each to store 4 military type 5 gallon gas cans. The rig will have a 25 gallon gas tank. With a flip lid gas cap, similar to that of the 427 Shelby Cobra. It will have a coil spring suspension with a 4 link in both front and rear. And dual shocks front
and rear. I'm thinking about 50 inches of axle travel. It will also be open with no doors or windows, however will have a windshield that can fold down on a hinge. It will have power assisted brakes and steering but no abs or anything. No A/C or heaters. It will all be made of steel, no aluminum carbon fiber or fiberglass.
