The car alarm on my explorer goes off all the time for no apparent reason, does anybody know how to permanently deactivate it? I'm not above cutting wires if I can figure out which wires to cut.

I did read the manual, but all it tells me is how to make it stop going off, not how to make it so it won't go off. Its a factory car alarm or else I could track down the wires myself.

I'm not gonna take it to a dealer, its annoying but I'm not ready to spend a fortune on it yet.

Well there are some stores selling repair manuals of certain brands.it would seem to be the answer.:navajo: :exporange :exp:

Helping to keep this thread alive until it's answered... I don't know if there are any Ford techs online here or not, but I've personally seen very detailed threads from actual ford technicians on ford truck enthusiast . com web forum talking about how to turn on and off different features of your explorer alarm system. I'm certain they could also tell you how to disable your alarm aside from disconnecting the horn. It could be as simple as pulling a fuse ( I would hope ford installed a fuse on their alarm system). Don't pay attention to rude unhelpful smart ass comments like if it's broke then just pay the dealer to fix it...or how about- ...just go out and buy a manual dude.... wtf was that for, c'mon man... this thread and this website are all about asking questions and HELPING people who don't have anywhere else to look for information.

Thanks alot, I know that there is a fuse for the alarm, I'll have to check the manual again but I think the alarm was tied in with some other things that I would rather not do without.

The factory alarm should arm when all the doors a closed, and the door is locked via the fob, or lock botton. There is a short delay before the system is armed. Once armed it will go off if the rear hatch, hood, or any doors are opened. Mine would mysteriously go off at night. I cursed at the truck for a few days, until I discovered that I left the hood open. It was down but not latched properly. Any time the wind blew it would move the hood and set the alarm off. Does yours go off as soon as you arm it or is it random?
