Deep snow, no problem

fund out just how much snow my X can manage, its up to my bumpers! Ok i had to back off and try again a coupe of times in an upphill where there were snow to over my bumpers headlights, but i got thru..Damn that was amazing, and im all stock! And just for the record it wasnt to my bumpers all the time im not that stoopid, it was almost to my hubs the rest of the time, wet +5 degree snow... And then we filled it up with 25-28 bags of chopped up wood and drove back again..man, those skiers are gonna get wild om me messing up their tracks
In the summertime there IS a road where i drove my X so you dont have to mess my up over going in the woods or something...
But i guess it shuld have been easier just going over the farmers fields than the road..

A stock Explorer is alot more rugged than what most people think. That's why people look at us really weird. "What's he doing up here in that thing?"

Sounds like fun! I've had the pleasure of driving my Ex thru some nasty weather (and a few snowbanks when I found them ) this winter the NYC area, and have never been disappointed with the performance.

I know what you mean. Up here in Southern Ontario we have had a beast of a winter and I take my Explorer out every snowfall just for the fun of it. My road never gets plowed until 8-10 hours after the snow falls and I just blast around.

I had it up to my bumpers getting through my father in laws driveway and had no problem.

And the best part of it is, that i can brag abut it with my friend that have an Rav-4(best car ever built.. )He started with saying that he also can drive with snow up to his bumpers(yeah right) but then i informed him about the fact that my bumpers is i a bit higher then his..and he could never have been able to get thru where i drove (about 1,2miles) and returned with three persons and those 25 or something sacks of wood at the same time...

I LOVE driving in the snow My town is unusually good at cleaning away snow, so I'm usually stuck to a few small lots after the snow stops... but oh the fun

Can't wait til' college up in Burlington next year!!

I found that the original Firestone Wilderness AT's would go through quite abit more snow than the replacement Goodyear Wranglers that Ford put on it..

in a cul de sac near my house there was this huge snow drift when we had that east coast blizzard a month ago. at first when i saw the drift i was thinking that i wouldnt try it, but then i decided that i had to.....i had snow halfway up the headlights! and yes it did get stuck but it was ok (i dont consider it a bad 'stuck' when i was less than 100 yards from my house.....i just call it a bad parking job ) anyway, my neighbor pulled me out with his avalanche. hey, at least i had the balls to try going through it, my friend wouldnt even try it in his dakota with 8" of lift. i probably could have made it now since i have my TT/shackles/AAL body lift and 32" AT KOs

haha Pemerling... I'm actually going to St. Mikes in the fall... whens graduation? I'm heading up for an overnight sometime in the next month so we'll have to meet up and you can give me a real college tour... I've always wanted to meet someone from the forum...

In April of last year in Alaska, we had about 30" of snow here overnight. Come next morning, the snow was up to my bumpers, but at the very top. So, bascially on the Eddie Bauer, the snow would cover up to where the two-tone paint begins. So I got stuck in my driveway a few times because people in my neighbood was shovelling the wet snow and they were in my way behind me. But, looking back, I was able to drive the thing, but not without difficulty in this deep snow conditions. I guess the only thing to fix this is to get a real snow tires and a lift.
