Incorrect NOTAJP Well 1/2 correct.

Full hydro can be return to center, Its just alot more expesive. As for legality Full hydro is legal on commercial vehicles over a certain gvw. And I cant find anything refering to it in state codes here. But that is just here.

Yes, full hydro can be RTC with the correct valve but $$$$$. D.O.T. will not certify any vehicle other than mega heavy GVW without a physical connection between the steering wheel and tires. I don't have the code in front of me but I could find it. Don't think I would want full hydro on the street anyway. Would be scary to drive. What if you blew a hose?

Most of our tatical vehicles have hydro assist so that we can still be legal on the street even with 52" tires. Only one we have that is full hydro is a tatical fork lift but it steers with a center pivot!

Nope

Dragon wagon is full hydro. All self centering hydros are redundant plumbed with self sealing breakaway valves, that is part of the expence problem. Were getting off topic. Sorry Derrick C.

What is the Dragon Wagon? Cory is a plethra of knowledge in hydros. If you know a loophole for hydros I'm interested in hearing more. Though we haven't discussed it, I'm sure Derrick would like to keep some street legal theme.

Well....I had no plans of even thinkin about drivin this thing on the street. But I don't want to load it on a trailer just to go wheelin across town.

Well, that'll make steering cake then. ;)

Derrick, now you got me thinking. I'll stay up for days thinking about suspension. My wife's gonna kick your ass. I'll prob put in a couple hundred hours thinking and reading. I wish I was an engineer, this would be easy. Don't worry, I'm excited about your project. This'll be cool.

Well it couldn't be any worse then what my girlfriends going through. She helps though. I talk to her about stuff she can't even understand but she still listens.

I'll make it up to your wife some how. I promise!

Heres a pic of what I was thinkin for suspension.

Haha! She might hold you to that. I was j/k. She doesn't mind, really. My wife loves 4x so don't worry. She's used to me being gone for hours working on some kind of project. Work is starting to slow down now so it'll be easier for me to get away.

Damn, that's just freakin insane!

Now see Kent.....thats what I was talking about. 4 link with coils. Looks easy to me.:D

I think it could be done without to much hassle. I all pumped to get this project started. I'll try to make a trip down there to see your rig and we can draw up a few plans. I need to do some more research. I just got a couple of requests. One was a 2nd Gen down the street from me, though I don't know how serious he is. And the other for building a 'kit' for leaf SAS on a first Gen. To many people trust me already. This 4-link idea will be a kick in the ass fun.

Ok then mister. Now your at my level.

Ok I'm going to go down to the shop and order my tubing in. I got a qiuck ? for ya. Everyone I've talked to said to make the 4 link rods BEEFY. So I was thinkin something in the 2" o.d. range. Probably something with a fairly thick wall. What do you think??

Yes you will need to make the link's beefy, they will be dragged over rock's and you dont want them bending.
i would suggest 1.5" Schedule 80

1.5x.250 If your using chromalloy

A little bigger if you are usingnon chrome.

Well yeah I knew they would be dragged over rocks but what they were talking about was because of the design of portals and the fact that all torque is reached at the tires themselves the axles always wants to rotate or twist.

I was thinkin 2"x0.350 tubing.

That would be fine But limit.

The over built stuff unless you plan on repowering.

This is what I was thinking. I think 2" isn't what you want. Do they make tube adapters for Heim joints that large? Pro racers don't use that large of tubes. The torque will be at the wheels and portals. I don't think the axle tube will want to wrap as bad as usual, but I haven't gotten that far in my reading. It's not like you are pushing 400 lb/ ft of torque through the driveshafts... ......yet. :D

Please use chromally. Let's only do this once.
