I'm trying to get my truck prerunner setup but it's hard to find anyone who is willing to do a custom setup that's not 10,000 dollars.

Yeah to do the newer A-Arm explorers it's gonna cost some $. Who have you talked with already, maybe I can recommend some more shops or people that may be able to get you in touch with the right people. Have you been on www.race-dezert.com ? There's TONS of people on there that could probably put you in touch with fabricators that can do what you want. I've also seen a kid at the desert that was running with only about 2" of lift but he had air bumpstops and bypass shocks on the front and it was amazing how smooth that thing was!!!

OFF-Road magazine has been doing a build-up on a sport track which is essentially the same thing. The Baja Shop did that front end. I'm sure it's 4 or 5 grad, It might be worth it depending o what yu're going to do with it. Suspension Innovations & Newline also do them.

SI (Suspension Innovation) did all of the Fabication work on my front end. They work off of Winter Douglas design for the front end. Right now they are finishing up the steering system that Winter had made some modifications on. For thoughs that have seen the truck, Suspension Inno. did a great job. They are located in the city of Brea, CA. (southern CA., Orange County area)

Brea? thats awsome, i have lived in brea my whole life. i just recently moved barely into fullerton. where in brea is this shop at? i may stop by and check things out

Chris, SI is located at 117 Viking Ave. Brea. Their phone no. 714-990-1704. They are located all the way at the end of the complex.

Do u guys think they can fab me up a good suspension? I basically want a coilover setup with with shock mounts, upper and lower control arms and uniball joints. What else should i consider and is included in this lift? I would like to know exactly what it takes to make this lift happen.

Ray, give SI a call and talk to them about what you want to do with your truck. They might have some suggestion's and could give you a cost figure. I saw in a previous post that you made that you stated it was hard to find anyone that would do a custom setup for under 10 grand. Don't be surprise with that figure and maybe more.

cool, im gonna go drive by and check it out today... i got nothing better to do.

Paul, what do you have done to the rear of your Explorer?

Steve, right now I have custom springs from National Springs, with Rancho 9000's. This set up is still from the orginial Super Lift setup that I had on before the front was redone in January. But in the fall probably Oct. the rear will be redone to work with the front suspension. My mechanic and the designer of all of the suspension work front and back is Winter Douglas. So far right now it look's like the rear will be some form of a 4 link coil over set up. Winter doesn't do the norm, it will probably be a radical setup. It will also be design as is the front suspension for major rock crawling. Winter is also going to change the rear end from the present 8.8 with 4.56 gear and Detroit Locker to a Currie 9" with 4.88 gears front and rear with a Detroit Locker in the rear and a Detroit True-Trac in the front. Also rear Disc brakes, all new gas tank (bigger) and new custom front and rear bumper's. I forgot one thing. When we order the new 9" rear end, it will be 2.5" wider on either end. This will go along with the widen front end which is 4" wider on either side (total of 8") up front and 5" in the rear. So for right now, that is the plan.

Paul, 4-link is the way to go for al out performance. I've been considering it, but I want mine to be as simple as possbe, so I think I'll ed up going with Nationals under the axle like stock, a 2-link to control wrap, and I'm going through the floor with some 18" Sway-A-Ways.

Steve, I agree with you on the 4-link. I pretty much let Winter make all of the decision's on what he want's to do to the truck. He's a pro in this field, if you could see what he did for the front suspension, you will know what I mean. When he told me he wanted to do something wild and crazy, you better believe it. It will be interesting to see what he come's up with.

I have a ??? about that kid that had by-pass shocks on his front end. Im sure that would ride just badass but wouldnt it tear the crap out of the stock torsions? My idea was to call sway away and see if they had any kind of custom torsion like a 300m or something and run one of there double by-pass shocks with a custom upper that would prob only cost around 3k maybe cheaper. Let me know what you think

Yeah, Iv seen a few other Exploders out there beefed up! Im planning on 4/3 linking the rear and also a HUGE beefy sway bar . With suspension this soft it has body roll like a ****!
Im doing a C-4 swap with a 9in also as soon as next month.....

Ahem...the new kids on the block are American PreRunner. 760-792-2914 we be in Berdoo, SoCal.

right now me and my brother just built two 91 exploers 4x4's one five inches over per side with deavers in the rear and 16 inchs kings in the rear, one peice f-150 fiberglass kit we r puting on this weekend, and the rear fiberglass next weekend, with 35 inch bfg baja t/a's on it, and the other is setup the same but with stock width beams up front and regular explore glass up front
