So I was trying to bring some wood out of our ravine a few months ago and one of my tire chains snapped. Before I could get back to it we got far too much snow for me to get it out even with chains. About a week about a week or so ago we got enough melt for me to try to get it. I put another chain on and proceeded to beat the crap out of it trying to get it over a steep lip in wet sloppy snow. after trying over and over I felt a slip while in reverse and the tranny smelled hot so I just shut it down. I went back down and tried it again and have nothing. My question is is it worth changing the tranny fluid on the off chance it's the fluid or is it most likely I just fried it?

You defiantly should check the level of fluid in tranny and put new fluid in. Get some Lucas to put it in there, if none of that works then yes your tranny is beat

I did check the level, it is good but the fluid looks clear with burnt streaks through it.

Throw some Lucas in there. If Lucas doesn't work there is probably something wrong with tranny, and try to get a obd 2 scan done just in case something electrical

Oh and look at your linkage to transmission make sure that's still on there and didn't snap

I did not think of testing it. I sold my tester but I sold it to my best friend so I can still use it when I want.

By the way I have never heard of Lucas before, can someone give a little more info about it?

Lucas is the best thing you can buy for transmission slippage or power steering pump leekage or whine. Make sure you buy the right one for transmission. Let me see if I can find you a link to make sure you get right one, but go to any advance auto store and they have lucas for tranny

Thanks, looking at that link I have seen that bottle before. I do not have an advance auto near by but I assume any auto store should have it.
