But can't find any info on this problem. My wife and I just bought an '01 Explorer Sport with 14,000 miles on it. We were looking at getting a new one but couldn't pass this one up for $16,900. It has every availabe option, including the moonroof and in-dash CD changer.
Now for the problem part. My left turn signal and brake light wont work when the tilt-wheel is in the lower positions. It works fine in the upper position, but in the lower the blinker goes really fast, the front signal works and the rear one doesn't. Anybody have this problem before? If so, is it an easy fix? It's still under warranty but if it's something simple I could fix it myself and save the trip to the dealer.
So far, I love this thing. We're gonna drive it for a bit and get used to it, then go looking for a little more power. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

sounds like a problem with the turn signal switch or a lose connector of said switch

It might be that the signal wire is getting pinched by the steering column while the wheel is lowered....Take it into the Ford dealer if it is under warranty.

2001 should have PLENTY of warrenty left

It is prob. a pinched or cut wire in the steering column. Take it back to the dealer b/c that is big money to repair b/c they have to re-fish the wires through the column.

I've heard of that happening before. I've also heard of the blinker switch bursting into flames after it makes a buzzing noise. The blinker turns off too easily. A slight movememt of the steering wheel will make it go off. To avoid the bursting into flames problem, do not hold the blinker down to keep it from going off and do not hold it half way while turning. I've had mine buzz once and I saw a fine stream of smoke come up and it stunk. I have no idea what the problem is... all I know is, I dont want that to happen again.
