since they are both around the same price i would go with the warn black, the only reason bc the other had purple lettering on it. But it is covered in mud u wont be able to tell

im with mitch man.. i think id go with the black warn diff cover. 72 bucks cant go wrong i dont think!

Go with the Warn black. With the stainless your almost guaranteed that it will start rusting.

neither. Go with a full cover.... the half shells tend to put a lot of leverage on upper bolts and will pull your cover off easier. I liek the Blue Torch Fab covers.

I vote for a full cover as well. :) I like the BTF, but I don't think it has a fill or drain plug. I prefer the ones with the fill and drain plugs because I'm lazy. :D

Stainless steel doesn't rust (it's "stainless" !).

Oh yes it will rust, given enough time

THANK YOU for backing me up on this. Haven't you ever seen the stainless steel exhaust tips that are all rusted up? Yep, they we're stainless steel. Some stainless steel last longer than the others, but you'll pay for the difference.

SS is somewhat rust resistant, all depends on the grade, most common of which is 430 and it will rust over time, some of the lower grades are even magnetic.
Afterall, SS is mostley carbon steel

i was steering away from the SS becasue it might not be actual SS...i might be plated. and if i bang it on rocks/stumps/etc it will scratch and possibly through the plating, making it rust...Also, SS is high maint. and id rather not climb under there to clean it everytime i drive through a puddle. So far im leaning towards the Warn Black.

I would also highly recomend the BTF cover. Sence I went trew this dilma already.

Bling, Bling! :D

Yes it was painted. Just remove the 10 bolts, drain fluid, clean surface, replace cover, and fill. (there is a fill hole on the front of the axle) I just use Grey RTV sealent. Works perfect and dosn't leak. It' come with bolts, but I bought Allen heads so would not round the bolts off.

For a full cover you might consider a trick flow, has a fill plug, magnetic drain plug.
Plus it's a girdle, easy install, took me maybe an hour

No is a complete cover, look at the pic, see the two large nuts left and right.
They are are adjusted to put 10 lbs of preload on the carrier bearing caps to prevent rearward deflection

I used Rustolem Hamered paint, (osh) RTV sealent (and auto parts store) allen head (osh, but you can use the one that come with it) It' was pretty quick, for the cover (1hr tops), but I also installed a locker at the time. Make sure you get new diff fluid though.
