Headin out this weekend in search of an 8.8 with 4.10's and 31 splines. Does anyone have an idea what the difference in RPM's from a 3.73 to the 4.10's might be?
Also while out, going for a complete rear end swap. Upgrading for a few goodies. When complete, I will be selling my rear end complete, drum to drum. Looking for disc brakes, the 4.10 with l/s, plus both rear springs to help replace my totally gone front spring eyelet bushings and work with the spring rates/
Main question though; Who out there in Explorer land knows the rpm difference between the 3.73 and the 4.10?
Thanks in advance.

im not sure how 3.73 is i had a 3.73 ranger and i got a 4.10 st now i can go 70-75 on the highway and i will sit around 2500 rpms. but my acceleration is alot better than it was on the ranger. but the ranger was also a 2.3 L

9%. The 4.10's are 9% numerically higher than the 3.73 so your RPMs will be 9% higher and your speedomter will read 9% low.

If you want to see actualy RPM numbers you can look @ 4lo.com and use the gear calculator. Using that you can fill in your OD gear ratio (top gear in the trans), set the transfer case to 1:1 and enter the gear ratio and speed to get the RPM. If you enter the RPM it will spit out the speed.
