I searched several threads on this but got no definite answers. The dealer said they dont have them anymore and I would have to replace the vehicle if I wanted to see the A/C controls again. Not really, but he did say I would have to replace the whole controller. I didnt even ask how much and walked out.
So, Im trying to find a possible part number for these bulbs (there are no markings on them). They are very small wheat bulbs that are about the size of an LED. They push into a grey socket that twist onto the board like a regular dash light. My assumption would be that I can find them at radio shack and that they would also be 12v. But before I go in and buy one package of every bulb that radio shack stocks that is of similar shape and size, I figured I would check here first.
I need to check my sig, but its a 99mounty. Thanks

great question, I'm trying to replace some of the bulbs in mine that burnt out, the "floor" and "vent" buttons on the auto climate control.

But I am going to the junkyard and get some bulbs.

My question is how hard is it to get to these bulbs?

I had luck in a good tv/electronics/radio repair shop. bring them the bulb they may be able to help you. They are 12V tiny bulbs. You can remove the bulb by untwisting the leads from the holder.

My local Ford Dealer was not the least bit ashamed to charge me $24.00 for two of those bulbs this last week. 1/18/09 # F5VY-13B765-AA

Can LED's be substituted?

Did the bulbs on ebay work? One or some of mine are out too.

Did anyone have any luck finding a replacement?

why not just mod in some LED's?

probably no harder than putting LEDs in the rest of the truck's buttons and such

pick out your LED's then do your voltage drop calculations (V=IR... 330ohms is about usual)

For those that said their dealer didn't have the bulbs, you can buy them from fordparts.com for $12.98 each. Ouch!

I wondered about LED replacements too, but the bulbs to be replaced are so small. We have some mini-LED's and surface mount LED's at work I'd like to look at when I get time. I'm just not sure that even if I can find a 12v LED that will fit for size if it will work with the PWM (dimmer). Anyone have experience experimenting?

Running the LEDs on a PWM-controlled circuit can cause them to act funky, and possibly flicker when dimmed-down. If you run it on full-bright like most people, it's probably not a big deal.

Personally, if you can find the light, I'd replace it, but they're few and far-between. (The original lasted 13 years... A replacement would probably out-last the truck, no?) It's likely a similar bulb to the ones found in the fog lamp switch, rear defrost switch, rear wiper switch, 4x4 switch, and headlight switch. I vaguely recall seeing someone install a white one in its place and someone else manage to remove the colored plastic tip and transfer it to the new bulb, but that was years ago.
