Discharging Cap

I am finally breaking down and ripping out the system in my car. can somone refresh me how to discharge the cap? do i just put the resistor between the poles? i searched and found nothign so any help would be greatly appreciated.

BINGO

yes the resistor has to touch + & - terminals.
leave it on for about 2 minutes.
some say only 1 minute like mine, but after a minute i still had voltage.
