why?

I just wished we had a functioning AWD Lock...i dont see the point in having an "AWD Lock" Lamp in my instrument panel if I can't lock the damn thing.

an AWD lock would add a lot of cred to the off roading capabilities of the mounty's and AWD X's.

Why? So I can have fun in the snow in the winter :D

ktford has made his permanent 2WD by simply cutting the brown wire at the transfer case. you would only need to add a switch (and light) if you want to be able to re-engage the 4WD; the light is great addition as it tells you when 4WD is actually kicking in.

Which? AFAIK, the Mounty is AWD, Explorers had a choice of 2WD, 4WD or AWD.

Nope. Some are all wheel drive, some are 4wd... We had one of each at work...
