Distributor/Ignition System

Got a question... I am looking at replacing my ignition system through MSD and I was curious as to whether or not I can get rid of that crap ford has on my 98 MM where the distributor normally goes. I am assuming that it is some type of electronic system... I want to ditch it and go with a distributor cap with points or something along those lines. Any suggestions?

as fair as i know the conversion we did on Troll truck is the only one done that way. it was a very hard conversion and have come to some better soulution then the whole explensive conversion thing. there is a lot involved and is very explensive.
