Halfway through a flush i find out that some explorers dont even have coolers, and ive already dropped the pan and replaced the fluid with new ATF. Heres a pic of the radiator taken from under the bumper, I'm not an expert, so I might be missing it, but can someone tell me if ive got the factory cooler?

If I dont have a cooler, Do I have any other options to do a flush at the moment??

All explorer's with automatic transmissions have transmission coolers. But most people agree the stock cooler isnt enough and alot of people have added aftermarket coolers.

I am not sure about 2nd Gen and later, but I think 1st Gens only had coolers as part of the towing package... I may be wrong.

i know my Ex has the tow package and that very same cooler up front... i have never looked at other 1st gen explorers though to see if they have the aux trany coolers

So its looking like i probably dont have one right? I cant imagine any other location for it.

look straight thru the front grille. Thats were they are for the 1st gen and i would assume it is a similar position on others

the auto's at the very least have lines running through a cooler built into the radiator itself and alot of them have the aux cooler as mentioned before coming with a tow package. The aux one would be mounted on the front side of the radiator behind the grille. Its a small rectangle maybe 8"x10" and should have some rubber hoses connected at the bottom

Thanks for your help, Yeah, I dont have an aux cooler then, so Pulling the transmission line off the cooler that is built into the radiator wont be a problem to do the flush? Do you know if this is a metal or rubber line?
