**EDIT**: I've removed wires/plugs and the air box to intake manifold. What are my next steps, please. Do I need to remove throttle bottle from attachment to manifold or does that just come out with it as one piece at a later time? There is a picture in this thread showing throttle body attachment to intake manifold. Please advise. Thank You! P.S. I still need an answer to question #2 below. Thank You!
Question #1:
I am soon going to take up the heavy task of replacing my valve cover gaskets on my Ford Explorer 2006 and I already know I need to remove a lot of stuff prior to actually getting the valve covers off. The biggest removal part being the intake manifold and I see from videos on YouTube and my own vehicle, that, I need to use a torx/hex driver/bit of some sort. Can somebody give me the exact size of the hex bit and the best length. I don't think I wanna go in trying to remove this intake manifold bolts with anything really short. That's for sure.
I have now started this project after learning the size of the torx bolts are T30. I'm stuck now at removing the large tubing/hose that connects box to intake manifold. I've loosened the stainless steel clamp with a screwdriver to a large degree but I can't pull the hose/tubing off. Is this just a really difficult brute-force kind of pull or am I missing a small detail? See question #4 and image number 2 below.
Question #2:
I purchased the replacement valve cover gasket kit already with 8 replacement seals for the valve cover bolts but I didn't think to purchase new seals for the removal/replacement of the intake manifold. I want to change out the valve cover gaskets at minimum to stop the terrible oil leaks and then go back another day and put new seals on the intake manifold cover. Is that okay?
Question #3:
How many posts do I have to go through before my messages are auto-approved? I'm legit as you can see from my pictures. Not here to play games, only to learn. This is now public so, whatever.
Question #4:
I'm now starting to try and remove the air-intake box and hose. I've loosened the stainless steel clamp to a large degree but the large hose will not come free. Is it just really tough or am I missing something here: I have successfully removed the big black box and hose: See last image below:
Thank You!
