Guys I'm changing the fluid in my transfer case Monday ..l I bought amsoil ATF back in march when I bought the trick but never got to it to use it in the transfer case ..l I bought 2 quarts

I just went on amsoil just to see how much I need and under transfer case They offer torque drive synthetic ...do I need that?

I have just ATF which is enough for the transfer case

What's the torque drive synthetic? Do I think I need it? I can postpone the transfer case fluid change if I need the torque drive but what is it for?

The Owner's manual says Mercon. You don't want Mercon V. I did this job the other day. Bought Valvoline ATF Dexron III/Mercon. Works great. Make sure you can remove the upper fill plug before removing the lower drain plug, cause it would be a biatch if you drain the fluid out then can't get the fill plug out. Get one of those plunger devices that look like a huge syringe with a clear tube on it to fill. Some also have good luck with a kerosene siphon pump or a turkey baster. Fill the TC on level ground until it starts overflowing out of the fill hole. I like to put some anti-seize on the threads to make removal easier. Takes about 1.3 quarts.

well all that i already knew , what i was referring to was the Amsoil Torque synthetic , its listed under transfer case as fluid you should use but is that for a full drain ? i think its 13 quarts... if i did a full drain is that what i would use?

In my 2001 EB, I did use Mercon V (it was Castrol Mercon V) with no issues.
If you go Amsoil, I don't think you need the Torque Drive ATF. That's specific for an Allison transmission.
Probably the closest one is Dead Link Removed because satisfies both Mercon and Mecon V specs.
PS: If you don't have the manual, get it free from here:
