Hey! You know...i had the same experiance just 2 days ago! Except my Explorer was airborne for like 42 feet!! (It wasn't 42 feet high, but it was off the ground for 42 feet) i think I got higher then 4 feet though. my landing was terriable (Lit off both airbags). Both of my tires are leaning like your pic shows, except I don't think mine are that bad. I drove mine 350 miles back home after the incident and the inner side of both tires is worn. I had a visual inspection of the suspension and they concluded i have a bad lower right ball joint. thats all they said they could find wrong.....go figure....anyway i think i'll be keeping the explorer closer to the ground from now on...you know at 121,000 miles my truck doesn;t need any extra abuse to cause trouble.....

WATCH OUT ABOUT THE BALL JOINTS. I replaced both upper and lowers cus the mechanic said so and it still didn't fix the problem.

POSSIBLE FIX

Well, I checked everything and it seems ok but its hard to see if there were bends. So here's what my solution but i want to ask for your all advice. On the passenger side the upper control arm consist of two parts. I dunno why but it does. I was thinking of putting a spacer between the part where the two pieces bolt together by two bolts and get longer bolts if need be. This would extend my upper control arm and push out the top of the tire. Would that work! If it would. What material should i use. Steel or really hard aluminum.

I used to travel ALOT for work and that is my feeling on rental cars. I would never buy a car that was used as a rental!

I have never jumped my Xplorer, but I do remember jumping my Ranger. Let me tell you, steep railroad crossing make for good air when you least expect it!!!!!. I was still getting used to driving my truck because I was used to small cars. I was driving along about 30mph, and weeeeee!! like a ramp or something all 4 tires left the ground!! good thing I had great shock on there, the landing was perfect!!!!!! I give it a 9 out of 10 on the perfect landing scale, and about 6 inches in clearance(not much, but hey who cares)!!!

Weird. I know Explorer's are alot heavier then my BII, and I know that you have the IFS setup on the front of your Explorer. But I can tell you I have jumped the crap out of my BII and the only damage ever done is a very noisy spare tire carrier.

Bii's are tough! Thats why I decided to keep it years ago and rebuid it.......

I have caught about 4' (48" between bottom of drooped tire and ground) before in it and the landings can be a little rough, but I never broke a single thing, and this was with the truck in pretty much stock form.
It;s funny though, since then I have upgraded my axles to Explorer stuff, completely rebuilt the whole damn truck basically, and added a hybrid 5" suspension lift, now that I;ve done all this work I baby it and I am scared to jump it.

Oh and an alignment...

I will jump her again, just without a 33" tire on the carrier......rips the tailgate fiberglass and makes for one noisy tailgate......

Here's a blown up shot, the lower control arm is perfectly level with the ground, then it bends upward towards the tire. That doesn't look normal for a lifted truck. it seems to be sagging a bit.

Even still, i'd say the upper suspention is bent.

reminds me of the time i jumped my first vehicle...i was coming down the street at about 75, and i forgot that there is a hump at one of the cross-streets. it took my sundance a good foot or 2 off the ground and when i landed, i snapped the front sway bar right in two (2 and 1/2 " thick, and solid!) course, the engine in that thing was way oversized for the vehicle (3.0 v6)

FINALLY FIXED IT!!!

I just wanted to say that i finally fixed the problem. I replaced my spindles and upper control arm and it is much better. THere's still little camber but i think it's due to the spindle. No more ugly wheels!

Been there done that, 2 weeks ago....First 3 jumps were fine, first was about a foot, second about 4 ft, third about 6, all were fine. i was gonna jump it one more time, so I just had to make it a doozie .... bout 9 ft I was told by people watching me. It was in silverlake, when your coil spring breaks, the truck lands a little hard, but New spring, and alotta laughs made it all worth it. It was a blast!

when did you get a new brush guard scexplorer? oticed it wasnt one of ur normal variety in the pic, or did you modify an old one? did you make it urself? i like the finish, goes well with the colour of ur truck

hehe jumps, ive done one of them. I was driving my grandma back to her house, offroad, and i hit a hill at about 55kph, course, i dont think it lifted the rear tires, but the front ones did, but my grandma still trusts me.
