Will the front shocks for a Ranger fit a 1996 4wd explorer?

BUMP

any year ranger where the front shocks will fit a 96 4wd explorer

anyone....? c'mon i know someone on this site knows.

no one knows???

you guys know all the engines that can and can't fit into the explorer and even why.... someone has to know about shocks.....

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

just waitin'

If I told you, then I'd have to kill you.

j/k :D I have no idea. Wouldn't it be easier just to buy Explorer shocks?

My explorer is lowered, so I want firm shocks that are shorter.
I have found plenty of sport truck shocks that offer shocks for the rear on the explorer, but not the front. They offer front shocks for all sorts of rangers.... but no one seems to know if they fit explorers. Hence why I want to find out so bad.

I don't really want the eldebrocks... yes i know about them and I think they are pricey.

I was just looking at the Service Manual for 97 Ranger and Explorer, and I can tell you that the front shocks have a completely different mounting on the lower end so they would not work. I'm almost positive that the front suspension is the same on an Explorer for 96 and 97. Your only chance might be a newer Ranger, after they changed to the SLA (short arm, long arm) type of front suspension. I don't know which year Ranger has the newer suspension, but it was after 97.

step in the right direction....

What you should do is go to a Ford dealer and look at their pre-owned vehicles - take a tape measure and a carefull eye.

I think newer rangers have a Torsion Bar/A-arm setup like the 95+ 2nd gen explorers, but a ranger guy could confirm that. Older rangers have a setup similar to 1st gen explorers.
