Did this change in a certain model year?
Like I mentioned in my first post, I went for a drive to test this in my 04.
Engine running - in park - dome light on = puddle lights on.
Engine running - in drive - 50 mph - dome light on = puddle lights on.
I have the '02 and like I said, if the engine is running they do not come on regardless if the door is opened or the domelight switch is on. Maybe they did change this in the later years or maybe you have the infamous broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot.
Okay, checked my zomb....er....puddle lights on the way to work this morning and my result is the same as Rhino's; they don't come on with the dome light. Only time they come on is when unlocking with the key fob from outside the vehicle and when I pull the key out of the ignition after shutting off the truck, they light up.
That is one sweet a$$ ride, 10 footer or not. When I was stationed in CA, I had a '65 Skylark, 2-Door. I put those rims on it. I loved it. It's a long story why I don't still have it. Anyway I really like your GS.
Nothing new to report, except that Ive tested it multiple times since, and no matter started or not, driving or not, fast or slow, the puddle lights always come on with the dome light. I have not checked for broken wires, but I cannot see that being the cause...An intended design or lack of design I think.
Ive got a friend with another 04, I should ask him to test too...
