I always turn it off when i turn off the car, but in owner's manual, it says

"Under normal conditions, your vehicle’s climate control system should be
left in any position other than MAX A/C or OFF when the vehicle is
parked. This allows the vehicle to “breathe” through the outside air inlet
duct."

so should i keep it on or off when i'm not using my car?
isn't it gonna drain the battery if i keep it on?

There is no power consumption, regardless of the state you leave it when you switch the ignition off. The thing is that the above mentioned outside air inlet closes (and stays closed) if you turn the climate control system off prior to switching off ignition.

i have Auto Vent Shade visors on all 4 of my side windows. when it's hot out i leave the windows open about 1/2" and i don't worry about where the climate control is set. the visors are great because if it rains the water can't get in and the interior can breath from the top (where heat is).

I never change things before shutting it off. Blend door is a common problem, so I figure the less changes, the better.

I never thought of leaving it on to allow the vehicle to breathe. I always turned mine off just because when starting if it's on it's a little more stress on the engine and starting process. That's what I always thought anyways.

i believe the reason for having it set anywhere except max ac or off is to let it breathe like others have said and to reduce the chances of mold growing. with the car off and if you toggle between mac ac and any other setting you can actually hear the system. it sounds like air being let out of a balloon. must be pressure being let out or something..
