I'm putting in a new deck and I want to know if I"m going to have to bypass a factory amp in the rear quarter panel? Or is hooking it straight up to the speakers going to work?

you most likely have a factory amp. i think about 90% of all explorers before 98 have it. anyway. you dont have to bypass the factory amp, but it is recommended. if you dont, then you door speakers will still be powered by the factory system. it'll sound a little distorted, and worse as you crank it up. if you bypass the amp, then it'll play louder and cleaner because your aftermarket headunit will be driving the speakers. you can buy a bypass harness from crutchfield for about $13

Yeah, as I was waiting for a response I decided to get off my a$$ and go see if it did have one. It does. I'm going to go pick up a harness right now and install the new deck. Maybe I'll post pics if i get around to it.
